About Internships

As a key component of the BSc (Hons.) in Data Science and AI program at IIT Guwahati, students undertake internships lasting 3 to 9 months after completing 24 foundational courses covering core concepts in data science, AI, and computational methods. These internships offer students crucial exposure to real-world applications, allowing them to apply their learning in dynamic, data-driven environments — across industry, research labs, and academia.
Internship Windows:

  • September – November
  • January – April
  • May – July

To deepen their contributions, students also have the option to extend their engagement through a 12-month capstone project, continuing work on the same or a related problem in collaboration with the host organization. We invite recruiters, startups, research labs, and academic institutions to partner with us in shaping the next generation of data and AI professionals. This is a unique opportunity to mentor emerging talent while benefiting from their fresh perspectives and analytical strengths.

About Degree Program

The BSc (Hons.) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence offered by IIT Guwahati is a forward-looking undergraduate program designed to build strong foundations in data science, AI, and computational thinking. Delivered in a flexible, online-first format, it blends rigorous academic content with real-world applicability — preparing learners to tackle complex, data-driven challenges across industries. The program has attracted a diverse and growing cohort of over 1,500 students from across India and the globe, many of whom continue to reside in their respective locations while pursuing this degree. With its inclusive and accessible structure, it represents the first-of-its-kind online BSc (Hons.) degree by an IIT, offering a scalable model for future-ready learning.
