About the Programme

Course Description

This specialized 10-day training program is designed for defence officers and personnel to develop practical skills in the use of space-based technologies for operational planning, surveillance, resource management, and decision-making. The course provides a comprehensive introduction to Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), covering satellite image interpretation, digital image processing, image classification, photogrammetry, thermal and microwave remote sensing, hyperspectral data analysis, and GIS-based spatial analysis.

Through expert lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions, participants will learn to acquire, process, and analyze geospatial information for applications such as border management, terrain assessment, disaster response, infrastructure monitoring, environmental surveillance, flood and landslide mapping, and other security-related operations. The program aims to strengthen the technical capacity of defence and security personnel to effectively utilize geospatial intelligence and satellite-derived information in support of national security and strategic decision-making.

This course is being offered in response to the capacity-building initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs for enhancing the utilization of space technology across CAPFs and IB.
